With Opal’s Never Allowed feature on iOS, you may choose which apps or websites must never be available on your device. To designate which apps or websites are "Never Allowed," take these steps:
- Open the Opal app
- Tap on the "My Apps" tab
- Tap on “Never Allowed”
- Enter your iPhone Passcode
- Tap on “+ Add App or Website” or “+”
- Toggle off “Adult Websites” if you do not want them blocked
- Select the apps/ websites you want to be “Never Allowed”
- Tap "Done"
Once that's complete, apps or websites designed as “Never Allowed” will be permanently blocked, and this will supersede any Schedule, Time Limit, Open Limit, and your Always Allowed list.
It’s important to note that you will not be able to add entire app categories to your Distracting, Always Allowed, or Never Allowed apps.
How do I remove an app or website from my “Never Allowed” list on iOS?
To remove an app or website from “Never Allowed,” take these steps:
- Open the Opal app
- Tap on the "My Apps" tab
- Tap on “Never Allowed”
- Enter your iPhone Passcode
- Tap on the “x” beside the app/website you’d like to remove from your “Never Allowed” list
- Tap and “Hold to Remove”
Note that you must “Hold to Remove” for a minimum of 10 seconds to remove an app or website from your “Never Allowed” list. Additionally, to allow adult websites, you must press “Hold to Allow” for a minimum of 20 seconds.
What happens if I have “Always Allowed” apps set up within my iOS device Settings? Can I block it via “Never Allowed”?
Opal’s “Never Allowed” apps or websites will supersede any apps you’ve designated as “Always Allowed” in your iOS Settings and as “Always Allowed” within Opal itself. For that reason, we’d recommend ensuring that you set-up both your “Always Allowed” and “Never Allowed” lists exactly as intended within Opal.
