Opal works with the iOS' Screen Time API to check your app usage all day. It runs in the background, helping you monitor your screen time and control access to certain apps. Opal was simultaneously designed to use very little battery on iOS, and we usually use 2-4% of your battery in one day. To see how much battery Opal uses on your iOS device, follow these easy steps:
- Open your device "Settings"
- Tap on "Battery"
- Scroll down to see the "Battery Usage by App" section
- There, you may tap on "Opal" to view the battery usage
Opal on iOS is running in the background constantly and my battery chart makes it look like it's draining my battery!
Opal is indeed running in the background, but its usage of your battery will remain around 2-4% daily. Background Activity means that the app's battery usage happened while the app was in the background. However, despite Opal being active, it does not mean that your battery is being drained. To confirm Opal's battery usage, please follow the steps listed above.
