If you are going on vacation, you may enable Vacation Mode on the iOS version of Opal. Here’s is how to do it, depending on if your Rule is currently active or not.
How do I enable Vacation Mode if my Rule is not active?
Here’s how to enable Vacation Mode if your Rule is not currently active:
-
Tap on the “My Apps” tab
-
Tap on the Rule you’d like to disable listed below your “Rules”
-
If the Rule is not currently active:

Tap “Delete Rule”
-
A message will appear that says “Going on vacation?”
-
Tap “Yes, pause for a while”
-
Select the number of days you’d like to Pause the Rule for
-
Tap “Pause”
How do I enable Vacation Mode if my Rule is active?
If you have an active Schedule with Unblocks Allowed, an active Time Limit with Resets Allowed, or an active Open Limit with Resets Allowed, here’s how to activate Vacation Mode:
-
Tap on the “My Apps” tab
-
Tap on the Schedule you’d like to disable listed below your “Rules”
-
Tap “Edit”
-
Wait for the Waiting Room to countdown
-
Tap “Continue”
-
Tap “Delete Rule”
-
A message will appear that says “Going on vacation?”
-
Tap “Yes, pause for a while”
-
Select the number of days you’d like to Pause the Rule for
-
Tap “Pause”
‼️ If the Schedule is currently active and unblocks are not allowed, or if your Time Limit is currently active and resets are not allowed, you must wait for those Rules to end before you may enabled Vacation Mode. Similarly, if your Open Limit is currently active and resets are not allowed, you must edit your Open Limit tomorrow before you unlock the app it’s applied to for the first time today. Alternatively, you may use your Emergency Pass to edit those Rules and initiate Vacation Mode immediately.
After the amount of days you’ve selected, the Rule will automatically be re-enabled. You may re-enable the Rule by tapping on its card and tapping “More,” then tapping “Resume Rule.”
Why did my Streak break when I used Vacation Mode?
Streaks reward you for sticking to your Rules daily. After all, everyone benefits from time away from their device! Because of this, your Streak will break if you use Vacation Mode, and this is intentional behaviour.
That said, if you opt to disable your existing Rules, you are welcome to set up another Rule while you're on vacation that won't impact the apps or websites you may need while on vacation. That way, you may maintain your Streak.
